Nature often appears to plagiarize its own work. There are harmless butterflies that mimic toxic ones so they won’t get eaten. Possums will see a dead possum, and then do an impression of the dead possum. A partially lit moon looks like a sunfish that had a huge bite taken out of it by a killer whale, but that’s actually backwards; the sunfish did that to look more like the moon. Even thoughtless rocks and minerals can attempt to pull off this trick. I’d take this time to tell you about the Lincoln Memorial, but a judge told me not to. Instead, I want you to know about a limestone rock formation in Hierve el Agua in Mexico. From afar, the formation looks precisely like a roaring waterfall that was suddenly frozen in time – there’s even a boulder that looks like little guy in a barrel, about to make a daredevil attempt at going over the falls. There are several other boulders that look like Canadian policemen, looking at each other like “What are we supposed to do, go in after him?”. Mexico is beautiful like Mother Nature.
